1. Do you ship the servers to us?
- No! Our servers stay in our data center in Texas and we set them up with 2 public IP addresses. When you sign up to rent the servers, our provisioning system will email you with the ip and root password. We do this to make sure you have the best possible experience with our Sun Microsystems servers.
2. How stable / available are your servers?
- Our network and power grid are VERY STABLE. So much so that we can offer a 100% uptime guarantee if you need such an SLA (addidional charges apply). thus far less than 5% of our customers demand 100% since our network is already 99%+ uptime.
3. Why are they so cheap?
- We made sure to get rid of ALL unnecessary expenses so we pass the saving on to you!
4. Where are you guys located?
- Dallas, Texas.
5. Do you have any servers in Europe or Asia?
- No. If there is demand, we would consider shipping one or more racks to Europe in a data center in the UK or Switzerland.
6. Is there any OS / technical support for them?
- We provide 3 types of support. Hardware, network and OS install support. The rest is up to you!
7. How many people share the machines with us?
- ZERO! These machines are 100% DEDICATED TO YOU! Once we give you the root password, you MUST CHANGE it so only you can log in and use it. When the rental term is up, we go to the data center, format the hard drive(s) and get it ready for the next customer.
8. Has Sun Microsystems really used your machines?
- Yes, and on multiple occasions. Several times our SE friend in Dallas has used our machines for several Proof of Concepts AND to help customers show Sun Support issues they face with their particular installation. Our Sun SE friend told us that using our servers saved them tens of thousand of dollars within a three month period! To date you can still call and ask him as he is a reference customer for us.
9. Can you install software on it for us?
- Our focus is really the Sun Servers. We can however install all of the Sun Java Enterprise System software stack, mySQL and Oracle to name the most common requests. Our hourly rate is $100 for such a service.
10. Can we install other OSs or software on the servers?
- YES! As long as you are not in violation with our Terms Of Use and you own the ORIGINAL media and the software is registered to you / your company OR is freeware like Linux.
11. Do you price match?
- YES! As long as the vendor is a verifiable, known vendor (ISP who's who guide will prevail) who has been in business using the same name for over five years, we will price match their publicly advertised rate for up to one year (certain restrictions apply).
